Libraries

 

 

Adult Library

The adult library is located on the first floor on the office level.  The library contains a large and diverse collection of books under the following categories.  Fiction, Bible, History, Yiddish, Folk Literature, Social Sciences (self help), Biography, Jewish Humor, and Cookbooks.

 

Also available for borrowing are movies in VHS and DVD formats.  There is a substantial reference section for in-house reading.

 

Children’s Library

The children’s library is located on the second floor across the hall from the Hebrew School classrooms.  The Library contains a diverse collection of books under the following categories: Fiction, Bible Stories, History, Holidays and Shabbat, Sports, Humor, Mysteries, easy Books, Biographies, Holocaust, and Science Fiction.  Our library also contains video cassettes and audio tapes; catalogs and sources for large print books.  There is also a substantial reference section.

Expose your children to Jewish books early-before they start religious school-and encourage your older children to read Jewish titles as well!

 

Visit the Library

It runs on a “do it yourself” checkout system, and is open during regular synagogue office hours (usually Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) with extended hours when Hebrew School in is session.

 

Library Support

The library is subsidized mainly by donations to the Joseph M. Ravitz Library Fund.  For more information about contributing to the library, please visit Make a Donation.  Donations may be made “in memory of”, “in honor of”, “with wishes for a speedy recovery”, as general donations and through a yearly allocation by Sisterhood.  Books of Jewish content are gladly accepted.  Just mail or bring them to the synagogue.
