Kesher Zion Synagogue Reading, Pennsylvania An affiliate of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism
	Mission Statement: "Kesher Zion seeks to encourage the involvement of its members and create a special sense of belonging, while stressing the joy within Judaism. Our egalitarian synagogue is committed to meeting the religious, social, educational, and cultural needs of its members within the framework of the Conservative Movement. Kesher Zion Synagogue also recognizes its responsibilities to provide a public place for worship, to observe Jewish life cycles, and to support the local community and the State of Israel." Past & Present Kesher Zion Synagogue was founded in 1929 by the merger of two previously organized congregations, B'nai Zion and Kesher Israel. Our present synagogue was built in 1950 and has been occupied ever since. The synagogue has a devoted Sisterhood, active Men's Club and a vibrant Hebrew School. Our Children's Library and our Adult's Library both contain valuable resources that we make available to the entire Reading Community. As a service to our members and the community at large, our Sisterhood Judaica Shop and PTA Wine Store are stocked with all of the items necessary to enhance and beautify Jewish observance.

Our Clergy Rabbi: Rabbi means “master” or “teacher” and refers to one who is authorized to render decisions of Jewish law and practice and interpret the tradition for the congregation.  RABBI MINNA BROMBERG, PhD was born in Santa Monica, CA and grew up on Eastern Long Island in Sag Harbor, NY.  Voice and song are lifelong passions that remain central to her rabbinate.  She has released four albums of original music and enjoys making singing a key aspect of learning and prayer.  Rabbi Bromberg also believes deeply in listening to the many voices that make up communities.  Her work is guided by this verse from the Biblical Song of Songs: Hashi'ini et kolekh ki kolekh arev!  "Let me hear your voice for your voice is sweet!"  She graduated from Simon's Rock College and earned her PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University.  She received rabbinic ordination from The Rabbinical School of Hebrew College in Boston.  Rabbi Bromberg first began serving Kesher Zion in 2009 as a rabbinic resident; we welcomed her as our rabbi in July 2010. Cantor: The Hazzan, or Cantor, leads the congregation in worship. His/her extensive musical training and Jewish study qualify him/her to serve as the “shliach tzibbur,” the congregational representative in prayer and interpretation of the liturgy.
