Dear Elaine:
I received your letter regarding the recent
Kadima bowling event. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Federation, I
would like to express our sincere appreciation to the kids for their donations
of $613 toward the 2005 Israel Emergency Fund. As requested, this donation will
be designated for the Meir Panim Soup Kitchens of Israel.
I'm sure that it is no coincidence that the
amount of the donation is equal to the number of mitzvot that G-d gave the
Jewish people in teh Torah. With numerous mitzvot commanding us in our treatment
of those less fortunate than we are, the symbolism of Kadima's gesture sends a
meaningful message to our community.
It should be gratifying for our local
students to know that their bowling event was not only lots of fun, but will
also provide hot, nourishing meals for 300 Israeli school students who are
victims of economic hardship. Thank you for helping us to involve our future
leaders in the campaign.
