Mission Statement: "To provide a student-friendly and parent-involved environment for the learning of Hebrew literacy, Jewish history, customs, traditions, and liturgy with the goal of nurturing children in their development as conservative Jews. Educational techniques and materials should develop skills for Jewish living at home, synagogue, and community with a special emphasis on the performing of mitzvot; prepare students for becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah; and foster a life-long commitment to the Jewish people."

The Complete Program

The curriculum of the Morris Hassel Religious School is designed according to the educational standards adopted by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

The school provides religious education for:

Kindergarten and First grade on Mondays (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.); Second through Hay class (2nd-7th) on Mondays (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.), Wednesdays (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.), and Shabbat (9:45 a.m.).

Participation in services is the highlight of our Hebrew curriculum. Students in 2nd through Hay classes have the opportunity each week to lead their student congregation in prayer in "Junior Congregation". They experience the honor of carrying the Torah around the chapel. We chant Sheheheyanu to celebrate a child’s first aliyah. An age-appropriate D’var Torah is presented. A sweet Shabbat Shalom treat is enjoyed before joining the others in the main sanctuary.
